The coil is fed into a temper mill where rollers apply light mechanical pressure to the steel to induce a desired elongation of about 1%.
Temper rolling improves the surface appearance, improves flatness, minimizes the formation of stretcher strains and mechanical properties of the coil, and obtains a specified hardness or temper.
